It was a balmy 33 degrees today, and I say that with little sarcasm considering we were originally scheduled to shoot Kelly & Rick’s engagement session when it was 9 degrees and about to dump 10 inches of snow on the ground. A sneak peek for them, there are so many incredible images loading and backing up from this session, I literally just pulled this handful at random. There will be a big blog post coming with many more images to share!
This was quite the experience! We should all feel a little beautiful when putting ourselves out there for the world to see. Definitely the most makeup I have ever worn, and as I get older I’m noticing I have to use more of it. I have been really interested in glamour/fashion photography for several years now, and want to start adding more sessions to my portfolio.
I created these portraits on my own with just my little guy Hooper as my assistant.
I grabbed a few accessories and about 5 yards of pink tulle to wrap around me into a top.
Yes I am brave enough to post the before! And look at all it took to make the after! Hmmm…
I took all of these images sitting on the floor against a wall, with a self timer, 50mm 1.4 lens, and a large reflector.
When I’m feeling brave enough, I will post the before/afters of the retouching process.
Happy New Year! I honestly can’t believe that we are already into 2015.
We usually keep it pretty tame at our house on NYE. The night usually involves mismatched pj’s, ponytails and good wine. This year we decided to ditch our pj’s and glam it up. I had a ton of good chocolate left over from Christmas and pulled the fondue pot out of the cabinet. I paired that with strawberries, Bartlett pears, marshmallows, cheesecake and a few chessman cookies. It was a feast!
Posting my favorites from this session! I shared a few the day after the session, but there are so many more beautiful images I needed to share a few more. I can’t wait until April & Ken’s winter wedding. I’ll be doing my snow dance.
My favorite setting to photograph in, and I’m lucky enough to live here! Even though most of my clients live in the big city and metro area, we all need to get away, and Harpers Ferry feels like another world. Because it’s only an hour from the metro area, it’s convenient and offers a stunning location that you just can’t find anywhere else! I was really excited when April emailed me and asked if we could switch our location and shoot here. I think she made an excellent choice!
These two were so much fun! We didn’t stop laughing the entire session. I think you can see in this one image how badly they wanted to laugh when we were getting our serious faces on. Congratulations April & Ken! Can’t wait until your wedding day!
So excited to share this engagement session today! We started off the session for Robin & Dennis at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA. This place is gorgeous. Everything you could ask for in a location, it even has totem poles!
We finished off our session at Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn, Va. We had the place to ourselves, and of course I couldn’t leave without sampling some of the beer. I am especially fond of the Alpha Ox and all it’s perfect hoppiness.
Sharing a sneak peek for Sara & Rich at their Pier 5 Hotel wedding in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor over the weekend.
