Posting my favorites from this session! I shared a few the day after the session, but there are so many more beautiful images I needed to share a few more. I can’t wait until April & Ken’s winter wedding. I’ll be doing my snow dance.
My favorite setting to photograph in, and I’m lucky enough to live here! Even though most of my clients live in the big city and metro area, we all need to get away, and Harpers Ferry feels like another world. Because it’s only an hour from the metro area, it’s convenient and offers a stunning location that you just can’t find anywhere else! I was really excited when April emailed me and asked if we could switch our location and shoot here. I think she made an excellent choice!
These two were so much fun! We didn’t stop laughing the entire session. I think you can see in this one image how badly they wanted to laugh when we were getting our serious faces on. Congratulations April & Ken! Can’t wait until your wedding day!
So excited to share this engagement session today! We started off the session for Robin & Dennis at Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Vienna, VA. This place is gorgeous. Everything you could ask for in a location, it even has totem poles!
We finished off our session at Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn, Va. We had the place to ourselves, and of course I couldn’t leave without sampling some of the beer. I am especially fond of the Alpha Ox and all it’s perfect hoppiness.
Sharing a sneak peek for Sara & Rich at their Pier 5 Hotel wedding in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor over the weekend.
So very excited that Bayside Bride has featured Christine and Alex’s eastern shore wedding on their blog today! Check it out!
The most difficult part of planning your engagement session is what in the world are you going to wear? You have a few dresses in your closet, but you want this to be special, you want to show off who you really are, you want to “wow”, and you definitely don’t want to look back in as little as 10 years from now and think “what was I thinking?” Unfortunately you just wrote a big check out to your caterer and your wedding dress is now going to need $200 in additional alterations because you may have taken the whole diet before the wedding a little too seriously. You don’t have to be limited to finding a dress on the discount rack. You won’t have to have a dress hanging in your closet that you wish you had somewhere to wear it again.
You have Rent The Runway now.
They have thousands of dresses to choose from in sizes 0-22. A dress for every personality, every color, every body shape, every length, just….EVERYTHING. Dresses are delivered to you clean and pressed and they also give you a backup size just in case the first dress didn’t fit the way you expected it to. Rental prices range from as little as $30 and as much as $498 (FOR A $20,000 DRESS!!!) The average price of a couture rental dress is $50-80.
There is no other company that offers such amazing designers for so little. Can you imagine wearing Carolina Herrera, Reem Acra, Monique Lhuillier, Zac Posen, Christian Siriano, and Badgley Mischka? That is the tip of the iceberg. So many incredible designers are offered, I can’t name them all. I’m starting to sound like a spokesperson! I swear I am not affiliated or sponsored by them. But I can’t help but share a great find with everyone. The first time you rent with them you also get $25 OFF!
Here are a few of my favorite dresses that would be perfect for your next engagement session! I’m sensing a theme here…feeling a little nautical today.
Vanillia Scoop Shift by Moschino

I met Sara & Rich in front of Ciao Bella in Baltimore’s Little Italy on a beautiful weekend evening. This was the restaurant where they were engaged, and it only seem fitting to start with a cocktail there before our session got underway. They are both so laid back and friendly, it was easy to capture the connection between them. I can’t wait to photograph their Pier 5 wedding in July!
